On 3 December 2020, on the occasion of the International Day of persons with disabilities, Maspero Elevatori officially delivered to the Onassis Foundation and to the Greek State, the custom-made inclined panoramic lift for access to the Acropolis of Athens, a symbol of Greek culture and Western Democracy, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The lift, with a change of inclination ranging from 38 to 78 degrees, connects Peripatos (an ancient road located at the foot of the Acropolis) with Erechtheus (the temple of the famous Caryatids), on the north side of the Acropolis, in less than a minute . It has a capacity of 1,250 kg and can carry up to 16 people or 2 wheelchairs with companions. The special system has been designed to be able to transport, in an emergency, even an ambulance stretcher with an operator.

The cabin, made of completely transparent laminated glass, offers passengers a unique panorama.

Despite the operational difficulties due to the lockdown and restrictions of the two countries following the Covid-19 pandemic, we have kept our commitment and completed this ambitious project. We are honored to have delivered it to the Onassis Foundation, which we thank for choosing us and for the trust, precisely on the International Day of People with Disabilities ”, commented our CEO, Andrea Maspero.

Technology, design, safety, attention to the environment and enhancement of archaeological sites and places of public interest and more are the characteristics of the works created by Maspero Elevatori professionals.
