Newcastle, UK — The modernization of the two tunnels (pedestrian and cycle) across the Tyne, located over 12 meters below the river bed and 26 from the water level, also involves the construction of two inclined elevators supplied by Maspero Elevatori. The two units, one for each of the access sides, with a capacity of over 2,000 kg/27 passengers and with opposed frontal exits, will replace the old wooden escalators, following the same slope and meeting the severe safety standards required in the United Kingdom. Maspero Elevatori was awarded the supply contract through international bidding, where our accumulated experience in numerous similar applications in Italy and abroad and our proven ability to manage complex projects played a decisive part in the final selection of supplier.
